Oh Joy! The Jacaranda Tree!

One of the great and beautiful joys of Spring here is the blooming of the Jacaranda tree.  The Jacaranda tree is one of the first trees to bloom in Spring, and in my opinion, one of the most spectacular. But then, I am partial to purple.

Everywhere You Look

It seems as if all of Brisbane is in love with the Jacaranda tree. The Jacaranda tree can be found everywhere…

…along roadways

…along the river

…and in parks and gardens all across the city

People come to New Farm Park to take in the lovely site of the Jacaranda tree blossom, covering the tree and the ground in purple.

We walk around taking pictures when the Jacaranda tree is in glorious bloom.

Look at these beautiful blossoms that fill almost the whole of the Jacaranda tree. Most trees don’t even have any green leaves.

Butcher Birds in Jacaranda Tree

When we lived in Bulimba, we enjoyed this beautiful Jacaranda next to the Bulimba Ferry Station, overhanging the Brisbane River. Each spring a pair of Butcher birds would nest here and we would enjoy watching them tend their nest.
