This is the story of our experience of living in Australia for more than half a decade. Two Canadians from Calgary, Alberta, on an adventure! We went to Australia because of a work opportunity, although it meant temporarily leaving our family and friends, active church life, and a half completed house on a quarter section of land. Did we hesitate? Not too much. And, it has been a wonderful experience. One that we would like to share with you through this blog. Enjoy!

Brisbane CBD – Old and New
Brisbane’s history is reflected in the architecture of the CBD. The contrast of old and new buildings standing next to each other, delight and stimulate our architectural senses.

Moving On Up to the West Side of the CBD
Brisbane CBD is situated on a peninsula and is surrounded on three side by the Brisbane River. The M3 Pacific Motorway runs along the west side of the CBD.

Eagle Street Pier, Brisbane CBD
Eagle Street Pier in Brisbane CBD is a pretty place along the water with lots of restaurants and stunning architecture. It is the gateway to the City and to the Botanical Gardens.

Working in Brisbane CBD
The pretty east side of the CBD peninsula is where Ed started working in Brisbane CBD. He would disembark the City Cat at Riverside and walk to Creek Street.

The Purple Blossoms of the Jacaranda Trees
Throughout Australia Spring means color, in particular the brilliant purple of the large Jacaranda tree, found along roads, rivers, and in parks.

Autumn? Spring?
October in Canada means red and yellow leaves on the trees. October in Australia gives us these marvelous glossy opalescent colors of peach and pink and well, red too.
